This talk will consider the future of indirect searches for cosmic rays. Measurements in the gamma-ray band have been an important tool for probing acceleration and distribution of cosmic rays. Other wavelengths and messengers provide complementary views to unravel complex situations for interpretation of the data. I will review some limitations for indirect search techniques and the potential for planned or proposed observatories to allow progress to be made.
